Halal Restaurants Melbourne ("we", "us", or "our") operates halalrestaurantsmelbourne.com. This page explains what information we collect when you use our site and how we use it. We keep this simple — we don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't create user accounts.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (property ID G-NQ6Q4TVX1W) to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics automatically collects:

- Approximate location (city/country level — IP address is anonymised by Google before storage)
This data is aggregated and anonymous. We cannot identify you personally from it. Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_* in your browser (see Section 3).
Geolocation
On the Home and Map pages, your browser may prompt you to share your location. This is entirely optional — you can decline and the map still works. If you grant permission, your coordinates are used only to centre the map on your current position. They are never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
Bookmarks
When you bookmark a restaurant, that preference is saved to your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Claim a Listing form
If you submit a claim on the Claim Your Listing page, you provide:
- Restaurant name and suburb
- Your name and email address
- An optional message
This information is sent directly to our email inbox via EmailJS so we can follow up with you. It is not stored in any database, and we use it only to process your claim request.
2. How we use your information
- Analytics data — to understand which pages are popular, identify broken experiences, and improve the site.
- Claim form submissions — to verify restaurant ownership and update listings on request.
- We do not use any collected data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
3. Cookies
We use only the cookies set by Google Analytics:

4. Third-party services
The site relies on the following external services, each with their own privacy policies:

5. Data retention
We do not store personal data ourselves beyond what Google Analytics retains (default: 14 months). Claim form submissions land in our email inbox and are deleted once the relevant listing has been updated or the request is resolved.
6. Your rights
If you have submitted a claim form and would like your data deleted, or have any other privacy-related request, please email us at halalrestaurantsmelbourne@gmail.com and we will act promptly.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
